Les Uros sont un des peuples les plus surprenants des Andes. Pour fuir l’hostilité de leurs voisins, ils ont choisi de quitter les rives du Titicaca pour vivre sur les eaux du lac. C’est ainsi qu’à une heure de bateau de la ville de Puno, on voit apparaître à l’horizon de fantastiques îles flottantes. Sur un épais tapis de roseau “totora” qu’ils renouvellent régulièrement, les Uros ont édifié de véritables villages avec de drôles de maisons et des postes de guet qui leur ont permis de profiter depuis plusieurs siècles de la sécurité de cette situation plutôt insolite. On raconte que lors de forts coups de vent, les îles se déplacent et qu’ainsi les Uros changent régulièrement de voisins !
